Joey — "A gentlemen named Perez Hilton called me a DILF…"

SOURCE

New Kids on the Block's Joey McIntyre has got a lot going for him right now—a new solo EP, Here We Go Again, a sick Fight Club-inspired video, an impending New Kids cruise and tour and so much more. However, it all pales in comparison to being a "DILF" in Perez Hilton's eyes…Leave it to Perez to pervert a perfectly good American Pie line…

Joey talked to ARTISTdirect.com editor and Dolor author Rick Florino in this exclusive video interview about receiving Perez's validation and oh so much more….

New Kids offer a memorable "Tonight"

SOURCE

Sometimes even when you lose, you win ... if you keep "Hangin' Tough" and you've got "The Right Stuff!"
You might remember me lobbying last month for the New Kids On The Block (my fav group of all-time) to hold their screening of their new DVD, "Coming Home," to Poughkeepsie. Well, our fair city didn't win, but my persistence paid off.

I was able to attend an exclusive, fans-only screening of "Coming Home" recently, one of only three in America the guys held. And the best part: The New Kids — that's Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Danny Wood and Donnie Wahlberg — watched the DVD in the theater with us and they held a Q&A afterwards.

Seriously, the New Kids actually sat in the audience with us, as they watched themselves on the big screen, recounting their amazing comeback and ensuing tours ... and they sat right here in these seats! Think of it as seeing a movie with the stars of the film sitting two rows behind you. Who gets that chance?! Surely you know I'd already met the New Kids back in 2008, but this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. This was just as cool at that first meeting, but totally different since this was such a rare event.

Again, there were so many cool things about the screening event, I don't even know where to start...

After driving almost two hours and arriving to the theater five hours before the scheduled start — and yes, there were already a a dozen NKOTB fans already there! — I got to meet all the guys again, including Jordan Knight here. High-fives and handshakes abounded, as the guys were genuinely as excited to meet their fans as we were to greet them.

Even though I already had their autographs, I came prepared and hoped to grab a few more signatures.

Grabbing a seat in the front row, with a handy Sharpie marker ready to go, I was able to snag the signatures of three of the New Kids, turning this picture...
...into this picture, thanks to Joe, Danny and Jon...
But those weren't the only only autographs I walked away with that night, since the experience got even better!

Remember me talking about having "The Right Stuff" earlier? Here's why...

The gods were smiling on me as just prior to the screening, the guys' management gave away three copies of the "Coming Home" DVD that were signed by the New Kids and guess who won one? (Wait for it ... wait for it ...) I won one! Yes, even before I got to watch the DVD — and a week before it was even released for sale — I had a copy in my hand, and it was autographed by the guys! And, as this was the third and final such screening and they gave away three of these autographed DVDs at each event, I was one of only nine people in the whole world to have one of 'em! I couldn't wait to put it up for sale on eBay. (Kidding!)

During the actual screening, everyone was singing along with the songs — there was even a lil' dancing — and the New Kids interacted with fans, even tossing popcorn about the theater.

After the final credits, the New Kids made their way down to the front of the room and sat down for a half-hour to answer questions from me. It was really cool to see the guys just "Hangin'" out with us fans — no host like a talk show, no script or anything like that — and just being themselves. From thoughtful to funny, the guys gave honest answers about their 20+ years together and, in particular, the past two years that led up to everything in the DVD.

Throughout their reunion, the New Kids have made everything fan-friendly — from using Twitter and YouTube to communicate with us, etc. — and this was the epitome of that, and explains why even two decades (and lots of razzing by friends) later, I'm still a fan.

Joey McIntyre from New Kids on the Block

It’s Joey McIntyre from New Kids on the Block. Must we say more? This guy is a pop star god. Even though he has been out of the limelight for a few years, he still has people chasing him (which we witnessed personally). Joey spoke to us about his new solo effort along with giving us a glimpse into the good old days.

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh -- The New Kids On The Block (a.k.a. NKOTB) still have the right stuff as they already showed me last week when I got some fist pumping and dance lessons -- and an offer to join the bad-ass boy band.

So, still hungering for even more tape from their January 29 office visit? I also asked the now grown-up act about their busy year and wackiest fan encounter. Oh, and don't be surprised to see a little more fist-pumping going on...

Jimmy Fallon Reveals His Secret New Kids On The Block History

SOURCE

Posted 2/2/10 5:00 pm ET by Jocelyn Vena in Music, Television

It turns out that not only does Jimmy Fallon have a killer Boston accent, he also has some singing chops (which should come in handy now that he's "Jimmie," the sixth member of the New Kids on the Block).

When he sat down to chill with the guys (and later me), he shared his memories about growing up in the heyday of NKOTB's fame. He admits that he has a few favorite New Kids songs, even if they were mostly only loved by the ladies. "'Right Stuff' is kind of an anthem. There was one point in my life where you just you really couldn't get away from the New Kids," he told MTV News with the guys by his side before breaking into song.

"More girls were into it than guys, but it was still one of those things where if you wanted to be with a girl you had to know New Kids songs," he recalled. "I know at one point if you went to mall there was like outside of every store there was a poster of you guys. It would just be everywhere. It was awesome."

Want to here more about Jimmy's NKOTB memories? Want to see him sing a little NKOTB? Check out the video and tell us what your favorite New Kids memory is.

More roadwork ahead for New Kids on the Block

SOURCE

After a successful 2009 touring season, New Kids on the Block are back with a handful of late-spring concerts scattered throughout North America.

The Boston pop stars will begin the jaunt with a May 8 performance in Las Vegas, followed by shows in six cities, including two-night stands in Rama, Ontario (6/10-6/11), and New York City (6/18-6/19). The full itinerary is shown at right.

The second night at New York City's Radio City Music Hall was added after the first concert sold out within minutes of going on sale.

"We've let our fans dictate this whole ride," Donnie Wahlberg said in a recent press release. "They've been the ones to guide us through this whole journey. They want more, we'll give them more, and we'll enjoy every moment along the way."

NKOTB released "The Block," the band's first studio album in 15 years, in 2008. The set peaked at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Canadian Albums chart.

On Tuesday, the pop group released "Coming Home," a live DVD featuring 84 minutes of performances culled from the band's recent world tour, as well as behind-the-scenes footage and more.

As teenagers, the New Kids--Wahlberg, Joey McIntyre, Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight and Danny Wood--sold more than 70 million records and racked up back-to-back No. 1 albums with 1988's "Hangin' Tough" and 1990's "Step by Step." Following a slew of R&B/pop crossover hits and several world tours, the group quietly disbanded in 1994.

'They're on it,' Donnie Wahlberg says of the 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon' house band.

New Kids on the Block
When New Kids on the Block stopped by "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" on Monday night, they couldn't help but notice one thing about the show's house band: The Roots are perfect gentlemen.

"They're on it. It was pretty painless, pretty easy," Donnie Wahlberg told MTV News backstage at the show, where the guys were promoting their DVD, "Coming Home," which dropped Tuesday (February 2).

"They're all gentlemen too," Joey McIntyre added.

"This is the first time we've ever performed with the Roots, and we're very happy about performing with them," Jordan Knight said about their gig with the band. "We rehearsed earlier. They're quick, and they're gentlemen."

The New Kids performed a medley of their fan favorites on the show, including "Tonight," "Dirty Dancing," "You Got It (The Right Stuff)," "Please Don't Go Girl" and "Step by Step," with the Roots backing them up. "We're gonna do a medley of songs — some of the old stuff and throw a new song in there too," Danny Wood explained. "This is basically to let everyone know we have our DVD coming out."

In addition to the DVD, the guys also just announced a mini-tour this summer, but their priorities on Monday we're all about Fallon's show. "Honestly, it's very cool to be at 30 Rock and performing on the 'Late Show With Jimmy Fallon,' " McIntyre said.

They might have been biased because of their appearance on the show, but is Fallon NKOTB's favorite late-night host? "Absolutely, of course. All the Jimmys," McIntyre joked about Fallon and Kimmel. "I'm still mourning Conan, but that's OK. He'll be back."

New Kids on the Block bring it to Late Night

SOURCE

Our favorite Bean Town boys visited with Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to promote the release of their new dvd entitled Coming Home which released today. The New Kids on the Block performed a medley of their songs including “Tonight,” “Dirty Dancing,” “Right Stuff,” “Step by Step,” and my favorite song “Please Don’t Go Girl.”

The performance was even more amazing due to the fact that Jimmy’s house band THE ROOTS performed with them!!

Ya know, when I watch the boys perform it makes me want to “fave” each one of them but deep down inside I will always be a Jonathan Knight girl.

Check out the video below and don’t forget to pick up Coming Home in stores now!

Hangin’ Tough with the New Kids on the Block – at Fox!

SOURCE

Step By Step I’ll break it down (and promise to control my NKOTB song references), but the greatest hits do rush back when you sit-down with this group!

Jordan, Jonathan, Joey, Donnie and Danny all joined me in the studio just as the release of their new DVD “Coming Home” hits the shelves. The DVD documents their reunion and gives a behind the scenes look as the guys get back in the studio and hit the road with their fans. Donnie says folks will see they all do a share of playing the prankster and being the team leader, “anyone can be a practical joker, anyone can … run a situation, an interview, a rehearsal, a strategy session… we all sort of trade roles at different times.”

Meanwhile Jonathan adds they have the fans to thank for giving them momentum to keep this gig going, “I figured that we’d do the reunion and it would be this big build up and we go out and do our thing and then it would kind of die off. And it hasn’t, it hasn’t done that yet.”

It’s safe to say the actual “reuniting” days are done. They’re just back in business. And they’re looking ahead to much more in 2010 with show dates and even a second NKOTB cruise, which according to Donnie, is quite an amazing time “We’re basically five guys in the middle of the ocean with 2500 female fans, mostly female fans, and whether they’re with us or around us all 24 hours a day it doesn’t matter, they dive into the cruise atmosphere, they have a completely good time.”

As for reaching out to their fans, from the high seas or not, you can rest assured it’s them behind the texting. Joey says it’s actually pretty obvious, “It’s all us and we have a lot of fun with it, and the fans know that too and I think you can tell by the nature of our tweets.”

These days the group is putting their celebrity to good use, joining fellow artists for Planetohaiti.org to help victims of the Haiti earthquake. Donnie says the goal is to get supplies on the ground asap, “We directly donated money to send a plane to Haiti full of medical supplies and doctors and we’ve asked the fans, a group of artists have gone out to their fans to ask them, to help raise money to send the plane back. It’s a direct way to get people on the ground and doing something immediately to help.”

And for a quick trip down memory lane, I had to bring up all that merchandise – the posters, the lunch boxes, the list goes on. So I asked if they have any New Kids gear… it seems their new kids do! Danny’s 10 year old daughter got hold of one prized possession, “She found these stuffed animal dolls that, they came out, but it never really was sold to the public. The few people got them, and then they got pulled off the shelves because they’re pretty hideous. She still plays with it though.”

Also, we’re here at Fox and it’s American Idol season, so I asked the guys if they’re eyeing Simon’s soon to be open seat. It sounds like Joey may be willing to throw his hat in the ring, “I love it, I find myself talking to the camera sometimes… Some of the artists that go on there are great and they say exactly what you would want to say and some of them aren’t as engaged but just to be involved and see these kids and sometimes maybe give them just that word of advice…”

For now find him along with his fellow supergroup members out to show they’ve still got the Right Stuff (I had to) for this gig with plenty of shows coming up and a take-home with the new “Coming Home” DVD.

NEW YORK – The New Kids on the Block are at it again. After selling out a special show at Radio City Music Hall in just minutes, the Kids announce a second Radio City Music Hall show, and add on a string of dates across the country.

NKOTB promises to give fans another exciting year with the announcement of these special shows being just the beginning. NKOTB will release Coming Home, a special live DVD, on February 2, 2010 which gives fans a true glimpse at what it took to achieve one of the most successful and momentous musical reunions in history. After storming onto the Pop Culture scene again in 2008, the group has continued to entertain and excite, and promises more huge announcements to come.

“We’ve let our fans dictate this whole ride,” said Donnie Wahlberg. “They’ve been the ones to guide us through this whole journey. They want more, we’ll give them more, and we’ll enjoy every moment along the way.”

The NKOTB fans’ support is unwavering. The fans continue to want more and NKOTB will continue to oblige! After the smash success of the first NKOTB cruise, the band arranged for another ship to set sail in 2010. The tickets went on sale and were sold out within minutes making it the fastest cruise charter sell out of all time. The Boston boys then announced a special hometown House of Blues appearance supporting Toys for Tots. This too sold out within minutes and raised over $60,000 for Toys for Tots. The NKOTB phenomenon continues to remain strong.

"Medley" feat. The Roots (Live on Fallon) (Video)

s there anyone the Roots won’t jam with? Is there ever a moment of hesitation backstage at Jimmy Fallon’s show, when a band is mooted for a collaboration, and Questlove and the rest of the group have to think twice before indulging? Apparently not, because last night (Feb. 1) the Roots teamed up with New Kids on the Block for this performance.

The rejuvenated teen idols performed a medley of their hits, including the ubiquitous “You Got It (The Right Stuff).” Questlove was certainly happy with the collaboration, tweeting: “Gotta admit, backing up @nkotb in rehearsals took me back to my inner "chuck" when i would see em on arsenio back in the day. funtimes!”

The New Kids Visit the OK! Block

http://cdn.okmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/NKOTB_Feb1_1.jpgIt’s not every day that the heartthrobs of the past and present come together, but here at OK!’s NYC offices, we were lucky enough to be visited by some of the most sigh-inducing, pulse-quickening celebs America has ever seen — both from 20 years ago and today — the New Kids on the Block.

NKOTB — otherwise known as Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight and Danny Wood — made the time last week to sit down with the whole OK! family and chat about their new concert CD, Coming Home, their return to NYC in June at Radio City Music Hall, the Jersey Shore and more. And of course, being the gentlemen that they are, they gracefully posed for tons of pics with all their OK! staff fans!

Have any celebrity fans turn up the live shows?
Jordan: Oh yes. Carrie Underwood’s a big fan our ours. Kelly Clarkson. All the American Idols.

Who’s your favorite person on Jersey Shore?
Donnie and Jordan: DJ Pauly!

What are some of the things you’ve got going right now through Twitter and Facebook?
Donnie: Connecting with our fans first and foremost. We gather information from them and when they want something they tell us and we can respond to their needs and wants immediately. Haiti is a perfect example. We can promote causes like planetohaiti.org right now and we can also promote a record, a project, something that were interested in.

Joey: They know about stuff before we do.

What are some of the craziest fan moments you’ve had over the years?
Jordan: It might have been in Korea. We were checking in at an airport and some fans caught wind of where we were going to be and a whole bunch of fans turned up while we were checking in at the ticket counter. It got so crazy that we had to jump over the counter and get onto the conveyor belt that takes your luggage down and underneath. We ended up underneath with all this luggage stacked up. Nearly got a stamp on our heads.

How was touring with Lady Gaga?
Donnie: She just had a spirit. It’s fun to watch Lady Gaga and RedOne, who produced a lot of her stuff and we also work with. It’s fun to see someone start before anyone really knows who they are. She was always creative and always ticking. She was very down to earth. She co-wrote a couple of songs on our album and she did a duet on On The Block as well. She was just a great girl and now shes a great girl who’s famous.

Jon: I’ll never forget the first day I met her. I didn’t even know who she was and the president of our record company brought her over to a rehearsal. She walked in the room and I thought, “Who is that?” I just assumed she was famous already. She just had that aura about her. I think that shes always had it in her.

It’s perfect timing, considering his Culture Vulture is in the OK! on newsstands now. Psst … this is what you won’t find in the magazine.

The pop icon, 37, who wed Barrett in 2003, is dad to sons Griffin, 2, and Rhys, one month.

Favorite thing to collect?
Money. No, I’m kidding. I know you’re going to put that down. It’s too late. I let it out now. [laughs] I can’t throw things away. I’m not a pack rat, but I like papers and receipts. Meaningful receipts, like my wife and I’s first date, or a cool dinner with friends. I have receipts from dinners from 10-15 years ago that I can’t let go of. There’s nothing better than going out to eat, and you look at the date, you have the date there, it’s all printed out, you remember what you ate, you remember where you were. It’s fun.

Favorite family activity?
Disneyland is pretty cool. Just the fact that you’re going to Disneyland is fun. Just saying you’re going is a good time.

Favorite celebrity?
He’s radical and he’s tough, but I like Alec Baldwin. He speaks his mind, and I’m sure he’s definitely a lefty. He’s very liberal – not that I’m not liberal – I’m definitely a Democrat. But other than that, he speaks his mind, he’s funny, and he’s a great actor. I admire his honesty.

Favorite album?
My favorite album would be U2’s All That You Can’t Leave Behind. That was an amazing album, and for them to be still doing what they do – that was almost ten years ago, that album – but it’s still so fresh. That was a great album.

Favorite movie?
Definitely in my top three is a movie called Midnight Run with Robert De Niro and Charles Grodin. It’s a road movie. It’s hilarious and funny, and it’s got a little bit of everything and a lot of one-liners. That I like.

Jimmy Fallon Becomes The Sixth New Kid On The Block

SOURCE

Jocelyn Vena in Music, Television

MTV News had the honor and distinction this afternoon to head over to 30 Rock to interview the New Kids on the Block and Jimmy Fallon before tonight's show. The interviews were supposed to be separate. You know, we'd get some time with NKOTB and then we'd get some time with Jimmy before he sat down to host "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon."

As we were interviewing NKOTB, however, we found out Jimmy would be coming in and that all six guys would be in the room at the same time. We rolled with it. That's what we do! When Jimmy sat down, he began a very fun little interview with the New Kids.
During their chat, Jimmy decided to join the band. He's Jimmie now. And we have to say, Fallon is still really good at that Boston accent he made famous on "Saturday Night Live." He got some great details about the guys' appearance on his show tonight. Apparently, Fallon's people "demanded" the guys play a medley of their hits with Jimmy's house band, the Roots
